SON RETIREES COMMEND DG SON FOR PAYMENT OF BENEFITS
Retirees of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) recently visited the Director General and Chief Executive, Dr. Ifeanyi C. Okeke, at the Operational Headquarters in Lagos to express their appreciation for his intervention in facilitating the payment of their retirement benefits.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Dr. (Mrs.) Margaret Eshiet, former Director and Codex Contact Point, commended the DG for his leadership and described the gesture as timely and impactful. She noted that the disbursement of benefits had restored dignity to the retirees and demonstrated a high level of empathy and administrative responsibility.
In his remarks, Dr. Okeke thanked the retirees for their service and reiterated his commitment to fairness and equity in the treatment of all staff—past and present. He emphasized that the payment of entitlements is not merely a statutory obligation, but a moral duty to honour the sacrifices made by those who contributed to the organisation’s growth.
He urged current staff to draw inspiration from the retirees’ dedication and integrity, reminding them that the legacy they leave behind will define how they are remembered.
Also speaking at the event, Engr. Richard Adewumi, former Director of Laboratory Services, presented a token of appreciation to the Director General and led a prayer on behalf of the group.
