Product Identification Scheme (PIS) Division

- Compliance with relevant Nigerian Industrial Standards (NIS);
- Inhouse testing facility
- Conducive production environment (GMP).
The PIS is not a certification scheme, but an intermediary/ hand holding process for promoting continuous improvement and eligibility of the product towards Certification.
The Division also identify dynamic products without Standards manufactured by Medium and Large Entreprises and ensures the validation of the quality, using performance criteria in existing Standards, to establish performance and safety compliance. The Division liaise with the Standards Development Department (SDD) to ensure identified Standards are developed.
BENEFITS:
- Noting that a lot of products remained un-certified due to non-compliance with the above requirements, the Product Identification Scheme is thus aimed to give SON recognition for these products and ensure basic product Inspections and testing of key parameters established their safety for use.
- Through this Scheme, SON will continue to promote oversight of the products for safety, consumer confidence and value for money, amongst others.
- The scheme will also promote mentorship of MSMEs for migration to MANCAP and stimulate market-driven Standards development.
- A morale boost for MSMEs desiring recognition/certification, amongst others.
