The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) and the University of Ilorin have signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the SON Laboratory Complex in Ogba, Lagos, to advance standardization, product testing, and quality control in Nigeria.
SON Director General, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke, affirmed the organization’s commitment to continuous research, innovation, and capacity building, noting that the collaboration with University of Ilorin—a leader in academic excellence—will drive joint research projects, specialized training programs, and laboratory partnerships. The MOU also includes faculty and student exchange initiatives aimed at enhancing practical expertise and industry readiness.
University of Ilorin Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Mukhtar Adeiza Etudaiye, expressed gratitude for the opportunity, emphasizing the mutual benefits of leveraging SON’s state-of-the-art facilities to enrich academic and professional development. Additionally, Mrs. Talatu Ethan, Director of SON’s Corporate Affairs, highlighted the organization’s ongoing support in promoting quality assurance and encouraged stakeholders to utilize SON certifications to foster national standards.
