The Director General/Chief Executive of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Mr. Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke, paid a courtesy visit to the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) in Lagos to discuss the new MANCAP logo.

The objectives of the meeting were to introduce the newly adopted MANCAP Logo to the Management of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) before public presentation and to explain the reasons and the benefits of the New MANCAP logo to the Manufacturers.

The Director General, SON, represented by the Director, Product Certification, Engr. Enebi Onucheyo, explained the reasons behind the decision to rebrand the MANCAP logo.

He stated that one of the primary reasons for this decision was the inability of consumers to easily identify and link the current logo to SON.

The SON DG went on to explain that a logo’s effectiveness is often measured by how easily it is recognized by its audience. He noted that the current MANCAP logo lacks distinctive features, making it less recognizable and harder to recall among stakeholders and the general public.

The SON boss explained that the MANCAP logo promotes consumer confidence and encourages the public to patronize a particular product, thereby adding value to it. He stressed that the MANCAP logo is a very important mark of quality and that for this reason, SON is determined to review the present logo to create a more visible and effective one.

The Director, Public Relations, Mrs. Talatu Ethan, in her remarks added that in order to adequately impact on the products and its marketability it was important for the MANCAP logo to boldly carry SON’s name for easy identification and for the public to be able to relate the logo with SON as Mark of Quality.

The SON delegation also introduced a new scheme for products without standards called the Product Identification Scheme (PIS) to the Director General of MAN. They explained that these products would later migrate to the MANCAP scheme when their standards are developed.

Among the SON team at the meeting were: The Director, Ogun Region, Engr. Ayodele Omotosho, the Head, MANCAP Office Lagos, Engr. Akinware Ayodele, Mrs. Ezendu Loveline, Product Registration Unit, DG’s Office Lagos.
