Single Window (NSW) project team, led by Mr. Uthman Aminu of West Blue Consulting, visited the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) on September recently. The visit was aimed at fostering In a significant step towards improving Nigeria’s trade facilitation and regulatory efficiency, the National collaboration in line with the “Renewed Hope” agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which seeks to enhance transparency, ease of doing business and economic growth in Nigeria.
The session primarily focused on the Business Process Analysis stream, with key contributions from the Technology and Legal/Regulatory streams, ensuring a comprehensive approach to addressing challenges in trade regulation. Through this collaboration, the NSW team gained crucial insights into the operational flow of SON’s Conformity Assessment Programme (SONCAP), a vital mechanism for ensuring the quality and safety of imported goods.
The NSW project, designed to simplify and integrate trade processes across multiple agencies, aligns with the government’s drive to improve Nigeria’s global competitiveness. By streamlining procedures and reducing bottlenecks in the SONCAP scheme, this partnership aims to facilitate faster clearances, ensure regulatory compliance, and protect consumers from substandard goods.
