PUBLIC NOTICE: MANDATORY MIGRATION OF SONCAP AND IMPORT PERMIT PROCESSES TO THE  NATIONAL SINGLE WINDOW (NSW) PLATFORM

The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) hereby notifies all importers, port -stakeholders, and the general-public of the new digital framework (instead platform) for trade facilitation.
In line with the Federal Government’s directive to streamline port operations and enhance the “Ease of Doing Business” via the National Single Window (NSW), the following changes to our certification and permit processes will take effect from March 27, 2026:
Effective March 27, 2026, all applications for the following documents must be initiated and processed exclusively on the National Single Window website:

  • Import Permits (Product and Shipment Certificates)
  • SONCAP Defaults Users are directed to use the official link for all submissions:

For clients utilizing our Internationally Accredited Firms (IAFs) for offshore inspections:

  • Issuance: The generation of SONCAP Product and Shipment Certificates by our accredited partners shall continue to be performed on the SON Portal.
  • Activation: Crucially, the activation of these certificates for the purpose of Form M, PAAR, and cargo clearance must be completed on the National Single Window (NSW) platform.

This migration is a critical component of the March 27 Go-Live phase of the NSW, aimed at:

  • Achieving a 24-hour cargo clearance cycle.
  • Centralizing risk management to fast-track compliant traders.
  • Eliminating manual bottlenecks through a “Single Entry Point” for all regulatory requirements.

All stakeholders are advised to ensure their profiles are updated on the NSW platform before the effective date. Please note that SON will no longer process these specific documents through independent channels following the transition.
We appreciate your cooperation as we move toward a more transparent, paperless, and efficient trade ecosystem in Nigeria.
Signed:
Management,
Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON)
