Mrs. Phebean O.S Arumemi is the pioneer Head of the National Product Certification Department (NPCD). She holds a Bachelor in Engineering Degree in Polymer and Textiles Engineering Technology from the Federal University of Technology Owerri (1997), and is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics at Bingham University, Karu.
With Industrial Training experiences in Textiles, Coatings and Rubber technologies, her career with the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) began in 1999 and was exposed to several schedules and trainings on ranks as: Standards Development Officer II (Textiles), Port Inspection Officer, State/ Factory Inspection Officer, WTO/ Trade Development Officer and Assistant Liaison Desk Officer (Standards Organisation of Nigeria Conformity Assessment Programme, SONCAP).
She rose to several leadership positions as State Coordinator (FCT), responsible for administrative and technical activities in the FCT; Head (African Organisation for Standardization, ARSO) Desk, responsible for the interface of Nigeria as Member of the Body; Head (Small and Medium Enterprises) Desk, responsible for the interface and Policy integration for MSMEs Development; Group Head (Textiles and Leather Standards Development), responsible for Administrative and technical oversight on activities of Technical Committees; Head (Quality Assurance and International Liaison Division of Standards Development Department), responsible for coordination of Performance evaluations and International activities; Reform Champion on Ease of Doing Business, responsible for SON’s responsiveness to government Policies on Service delivery and interface with the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) Secretariat under the Office of His Excellency, the Vice President; Chairperson of the ECOWAS Technical Committee on Textiles Standards Harmonisation; Secretary of the National MSMEs Clinics Committee under the office of His Excellency, the Vice President.
Mrs. Arumemi has been exposed through several trainings on Standardization, Conformity Assessment processes, Trade, Administration, Business Development, Conflict resolution & mediation, Project management amongst others. She is registered with the Council for the Registration of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and holds membership of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Textiles Researchers Association of Nigeria (TRAN), Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria (CIPM) and Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators.
Her hobbies include traveling, reading and Taekwondo.
