Officials of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) led by the Director, Marketing, Engr. Richard Adewumi paid a courtesy visit to the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria’s (FAAN), Headquarters at Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja, recently.

The FAAN Managing Director/CEO, Captain Rabiu Hamisu Yadudu, and other senior Management staff of the Authority received the SON delegation.

Adewumi informed the Managing Director of FAAN that the visit was geared towards availing the Management of FAAN with information on services offered by SON in terms of Management Systems training and certification.

He made a brief presentation on the Management Systems Standards Certification and Training offered by SON, such as Quality Management system (ISO 9001:2015), Occupational Health and Safety (ISO 45001:2018), and Information Security Management system (ISO 27001:2013), among other Management Systems.

He explained that SON recognizes that FAAN has a working system in line with international regulatory practices. He, however, stressed the need for FAAN to subscribe to SON’s services in terms of training and certification, explaining that SON’s certifications will strengthen compliance to their identified regulatory and statutory requirements and enhance the system’s performance beyond what they have so far achieved.

Captain Yadudu thanked the SON delegation for their visit to the authority, imploring that SON sends a proposal containing the services as described and how it will enhance their service delivery and positively impact their system.

In attendance were: Deputy Director SON Training Services, Dr. Shehu Maik; the Airport Manager, Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Alhaji Kabir Mohammed. Captain Muktar Yusuf (FAAN). Mrs. Hope Faithful Voke (FAAN), Mr. Ibrahim Mohammed, and Mrs. Ijeoma Nkechi Ohaemesi (SON).
