The Director General/CEO of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Mallam Farouk Salim made this commitment at the 2023 Micronutrient Fortification Index Awards Ceremony in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The MFI Awards ceremony is the highlight event of the Agrofood & Plastprintpack Nigeria’s 8th International Trade Show on Agriculture, Food processing, Packaging, Bakery & Confectionery Technology, Ingredients Food and Hospitality organised by Fairtrade Messe GmbH & Co. KG in Lagos.

The 8th International Trade Show is a 3 – day conference bringing together global technology leaders from 18 countries  to showcase adapted technologies and solutions for the Nigerian and West African market in agriculture, food and beverage processing, ingredients, plastics, printing, and packaging.

The SON helmsman was one of the keynote Speakers at the event. He addressed key Agrofood and Plastprintpack industry stakeholders at the MFI Awards Ceremony.

The Micronutrient Fortification Index (MFI) shares information about the quality of staple food fortification in Nigeria. Employing current industry data, the MFI ranks food processing companies’ performances providing consumers with important information about the brands they purchase, therefore, allowing these companies to demonstrate their commitment to meeting quality standards for fortifying their products with essential vitamins and minerals. 

The 2023 MFI Awards Ceremony is co-sponsored by the Micronutrient Fortification Index (MFI) and powered by TechnoServe via a Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation-sponsored initiative, the Technical Assistance Accelerator Program.

During the event, awards were presented to CEOs of the top 5 brands in the wheat flour, edible oil, and sugar industries.

Other speakers at the event were: Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, Director General, NAFDAC; Zouera Youssoufou, Managing Director/CEO of Dangote Foundation; Dr. Jeremie Zoungrana, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation; Prof. Chris Ogbechie, Dean, Lagos Business School and Adesuwa Akinboro, Country Director, TechnoServe.
