A high-level delegation from the African Organisation for Standardisation (ARSO), led by Dr. Hermogene Nsengimana, has commenced preparatory discussions with the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) in Abuja. The aim is to ensure a seamless and impactful 30th General Assembly scheduled to take place from June 17th to 21st, 2024, in Nigeria’s capital.

Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke, the Director General/Chief Executive of SON, was represented by Mr. Uchenna Okafor, Chief of Staff/Head of Management, at the meeting. In his opening remarks, Okeke commended Dr. Hermogene and his team for their dedication, assuring them of SON’s commitment to hosting a successful event.

During the meeting, SON’s Director of Standards Development, Engr. Yahya Bukar, along with other key personnel, briefed the ARSO delegation on the progress made in preparations, including site visits to the proposed venue. Discussions centered on the event’s summary, presented by Mr. Philip from the ARSO delegation, with Dr. Hermogene providing clarifications and identifying action points.

Dr. Hermogene expressed gratitude to SON for hosting the General Assembly, noting the anticipation from numerous countries to attend the event in June. He emphasized that the ARSO Week 2024 presents an opportunity to reflect on ARSO’s legacy and the responsibilities incumbent upon its members.

Praising the SON team’s efforts, particularly regarding the proposed venue, Dr. Hermogene conveyed satisfaction with the groundwork laid so far.

Engr. Yahya Bukar, on behalf of SON, extended appreciation to Dr. Hermogene and his team for their proactive engagement, foreseeing a memorable and impactful General Assembly.
