As part of an ongoing collaboration in fostering International Trade between Nigeria and Brazil, the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Industry Trade and Investment recently attended a three-day workshop (4th-7th May 2022) in Sao Paulo Brazil with the Theme of Expanding Nigeria-Brazil Trade and Business Relations.
The Nigerian delegation was led by the Minister of State, Industry Trade and Investment Amb. Mariam Yalwaji Katagum and her entourage had in attendance Director-General/ Chief Executive, SON Mallam Farouk Salim, Chief of Staff Prof. Olobayo Kunle, Senior Special Adviser Chief Emeka Duru, Dr Justin Nickaf Director ICT and the Personal Assistant to the DG Hamza Zubairu.
According to the programme outline, the purpose of the workshop is to highlight and facilitate investment and business opportunities between Nigeria and Brazil and also to provide the opportunity for Nigerian entrepreneurs to access the Brazilian market.
This is envisaged to create effective partnerships and collaborations, thereby making incentives available in both countries, including funding opportunities and risk management for purpose of increasing FDI into Nigeria.
It is worthy to note, that Brazil is the largest country in South America and Nigeria is also the largest country in Africa by population. Diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries have been cordial, resulting in the recent signing of a historical landmark agreement on the Green Imperative Project, and the strategic development of synergy between the governments of Nigeria and Brazil.
