Students of the Christabel Private School, Wuye Abuja have been enjoined to imbibe the values of standards and quality for rapid economic growth and Nation building.

This admonition was given by the Director General, Standards Organisation of Nigeria, Osita Aboloma Esq. during an educational excursion by Christabel Private School students to SON Corporate Headquarters Abuja recently.

Represented by the Head, Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Desk, Mrs. Phebean Arumemi, the SON Chief Executive stated that the organisation encourages such excursion as part of efforts to deepen the knowledge and understanding of students on standardization and quality assurance.

He reiterated SON’s commitment to continuously engage with stakeholders at all levels and expressed delight in receiving the Christabel students and their Teachers.

The DG stated that SON has instituted a program to set up Standards Clubs in Primary and Secondary Schools throughout the Nation to further drive home the message of standardization and quality among the youths.

He enjoined Christabel Private School and other schools to embrace the programme to promote the quality culture throughout the Nation.

SON representatives from the Standards Development and Operations Directorates, Internal Audit, Public Relations and SME Units were present to educate the students on the various functions.

The Students and Teachers were conducted on a tour of the SON Technical Library and the SON offshore Conformity Assessment Programme (SONCAP) Office for enlightenment on implementation and enforcement of standards for locally manufactured and imported products into Nigeria.

Responding, the Head Teacher, Mr. Yakubu Lazarus thanked the Director General, Management and Staff of SON for hosting the students and imparting valuable knowledge on them.

He assured the SON Management that the students would remain good ambassadors of quality and the SON as an institution.
