Students of the Pace Setters College, Abuja have been challenged to become quality vanguards and join the crusade to preach standards and quality assurance virtues by educating and influencing their peers, family and friends to imbibe the culture of seeking out quality in all their endeavors.

The challenge was given by the Director General, Standards Organisation of Nigeria, Osita Aboloma Esq. while receiving the students and staff of the school on an educational visit to SON Corporate Headquarters, Abuja.

Represented by the Assistant Director, SON Consult, Mr. Wanza Kussiy, the SON Chief Executive reiterated his organisation’s commitment to continually engage with stakeholders at all levels, expressing delight to receive the students and their teachers on the excursion visit.

He assured the students of the preparedness of SON to provide the required knowledge to students through constant interactions on issues of standardization and quality assurance.

Welcoming the students, Head, SMEs Desk, Mrs. Phebean Arumemi emphasized on the need to imbibe the values of standards and quality by all for rapid economic growth and nation building.

Representatives from the Standards Development Directorate, Operations Department, Internal Audit, Public Relations and SMEs Desk were on hand to enlighten the students on SON’s mandate and the processes and benefits of imbibing standards.

As part of the visit, the students were conducted on a tour of the SON Library and the Standards Organisation of Nigeria’s Conformity Assessment Programme (SONCAP) office where they were further enlightened on the roles of the two sections in ensuring the implementation and enforcement of standards for locally manufactured and imported goods in Nigeria.

Miss. Sada Hauwa, the Assistant Head Girl of Pace Setters College, thanked the Director General, management and staff of SON for hosting them and promised to be good ambassadors of the organisation with the knowledge they have gained from the visit.
