STANDARDS ORGANISATION OF NIGERIA AT THE NATIONWIDE MICRO, SMALL AND MEDUIM ENTERPRISES (MSMEs) CLINICS IN ABA, ABIA STATE
The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) through the Abia State Office participated actively at the Nationwide MSMEs Clinics which commenced in Aba, Abia State on Thursday, 26th – Friday 27th January, 2017 at the Aba Sports Club.
The Programme was flagged-off by His Excellency, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, GCON, Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, with the immense support of the Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, and the Honourable Minister, Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Okechukwu Enelamah. The Chief Executives Officers (CEOs) of the participating Agencies were also present to witness the flag-off of the maiden programme. The Clinics are aimed at bridging the gaps limiting the access of MSMEs to the Government Services offered for their development. The Programme provided a good opportunity for the Agencies to assess and proffer solutions to the needs, questions and requests of the Entrepreneurs through synergy at a spot.
The Aba programme was a good opportunity for SON to diagnose the challenges limiting MSMEs’ Product/Services Certifications in the State. Through the diagnosis, solutions to assist the MSMEs in accessing SON’s Services were proffered including sales of MANCAP forms and Standards at 50% discount as approved by our amiable Director General/Chief Executive, Osita Anthony Aboloma. It is expected that the laudable Programme will drive the development and growth of the immense capacities of Abia State in particular, and other States in general in Commerce and Industry to meet local consumption and exports of quality products and services necessary to grow Nigeria’s economy.
The tweets by His Excellency, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, GCON, Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, after the programme indicated his satisfaction at the outcome of the pilot programme and the key roles of SON and other Agencies in economic development. The Abia State Governor also expressed a strong commitment to work with the Government Agencies to take Abia State to the peak of Commerce and Industry in Nigeria. SON is committed to working with the Abia State Government in achieving the goal and will therefore be on ground at all locations of the Clinics to provide quality services to the budding and established Entrepreneurs in Nigeria.
